The reason lifting weights helps treat depression is because you don’t just work out your muscles. You also exercise the ability to dispense motivation. Build up your power to motivate yourself, you’ll find yourself doing little things that need to be done. It’s not perfect, and it can be a really slow start, but it really does help.
It’s a lot easier to lift a dumbbell a few times than it is to clean your room, but if you push yourself to lift it you will find it easier to push yourself to organize your stuff or do the dishes.
Also you can punch harder.

just saw a conservative blogger ‘fear-monger’ with the phrase “a nation without a border ceases to be a nation!”
and im like…you mean that nations are not intrinsic truths, but instead they only manifest themselves through the exclusion of the ‘other’??
you mean that borders are fictions that we are all encouraged to believe in, in order to create a feeling of national pride that is almost entirely based on being ‘not the other’, creating stigma and feelings of superiority?
you mean that citizenship and nationality are features of our cultures that are almost always decided arbitrarily at birth and through nothing else??
you mean that a world without borders would be a very big step in the direction of a world without nationalism and without fear/stigmatisation of the ‘other’?? yeah sounds awful….

you all know why lord of the flies was written about little boys? golding very specifically believed that 1) he was not qualified to write about little girls as he had never experienced being one 2) he did not believe that the same events would transpire if it had been girls because he thought boys behaviour more likely to paint a picture of (male dominated) society and its problems. you can’t keep a female version of the story ‘faithful’ to the book because then it would be unfaithful to what the author was originally trying to portray. why dont you go and spit on goldings grave while you’re at it too.
Wasn’t LOTF also written in response to an older book that kind of depicted British boys/men as the golden children of reason and civilization, and Golding, who taught at a boys’ school, was like “lol have you met any actual boys”
This is the physical manifestation of men saying “what if it was the other way round?” with no thought of context or history.
